This project was designed and headed by Architect William McMorran of Architectonicus, from Tedstone Delamere, Bromyard. The Principle contractor being Jenkinson Builders. The owners being Mr and Mrs Tufnell.
The design stage began back in 2014 with the owners wanting a ‘weekend retreat’ at the seaside that replicated the clashing of the waves. This to be in VM quartz zinc with low reflective stainless steel the fascia’s facing the sea. Rainwater goods were also to be of quartz zinc. In all 3000kgs of metal was used on the roof covering.
This is exactly what they achieved over a long build time.
JTC were initially asked to give a guideline price in March 2015.
William McMorran requested a meeting with Trevor Corser to go through the finer points of the design. This being quite literally as work had begun on the foundations and framing of the building. After the rear pitch was completed, Mrs Tufnell decided the windows required lifting further up the roof. A painstaking alteration thus needed to be achieved by the staff at JTC plus Jenkinson’s. The curved frontage was made even more awkward by the upper scaffolding. This was obviously taken from the Egyptian Scaffolding Federation when completing the Pyramids.
